Capturing Tessa Talking and a Cookout/Playdate

I've been trying to get Tessa to sit still and talk on camera, not an easy task. Here's a video of her saying a few things, although she can say many more.

We had friends over for a cookout tonight, and I took a quick video of the kids running around right before they left. Calvin is already in pjs, and Rylan is halfway there.

Lou and Tessa on Video...Again

After a very messy dinner, Tessa played in just a diaper for the rest of the evening. Here's what happens when you mix Tessa, Lou, and a balloon. Fun times!

New Words and Other Happenings

Tessa has really started to mimic us, or at least attempt to copy one word per sentence. Yesterday she said "baby", she had been trying for a few days, but it kept coming out bae. The other new word is Mickey...she says "Mii"...and man does she like the fact that she can say Mii. We had a babysitter last night and we got Tessa a new Mickey DVD to watch while she was here, she LOVED it! And woke up requesting "Mii" this morning.

Other new words she says, "coo coo" = choo choo, banana, "aaap" = apple, bye bye, "hehwo" = hello, go go go (she often shouts this at Louie when she wants him to come to her).

Tessa loves to play hide/seek...or more like, she goes to hide in her closet and will come out when she is ready to be found. And making tents (another word she can say) is a favorite activity.

We've also been trying to get her sit and color and stick stickers more often. She generally does very well with it, and only needs the occasional reminder that these things don't belong in her mouth. I'm planning on scanning some of her "pictures" so hopefully I can post them soon.

The other big news around here is she has finally transitioned to 1 nap. Most days she is still tired around 10:30, but we can usually keep her from falling asleep until 12:30/1:00. And she is much happier to take just 1. And sleeping later in the morning is always a plus!

And I think spring is finally thinking about making an appearance in the Mid-Atlantic. We still have piles of snow, but hopefully after a series of 55 degree days the snow will be gone til next winter. Tessa has loved to go to the playground near our house, and squeals with delight when she sees the slides, swings, monkey bars, etc.

Lastly, we joined the Y, and have been taking Tessa to the "Child Watch" area there. She does really well being left alone, we're very lucky, and I don't expect it to last forever. She plays happily, most of the time by herself, while I run on the treadmill. I'm hoping to run outside more now that the weather is warming up, but will probably still try to take her once a week so she will hopefully continue to be ok with being without me.

And here are some recent pictures:

Need to Catch Up...

Wow...its been a while!
Tessa has changed a lot in the last few weeks. She can say quite a few words now, most only Tim or I can understand. Here's a few: dada, mama, nou (for lou), nana, ma (max, her buddy), did (sid the science kid), cacca (cookie), apap (help....this one she says ALL the time), ball, no no. And many more I can't think of at the moment.

Tessa really likes to color, scanned images to come soon hopefully. She LOVES the PBS show "Sid the Science Kid"...she walks around saying "Did, did, did", hoping we'll put the TV on for her. She has a new playroom in the basement full of lots of cool Christmas presents and has a great time playing down there. She really likes to give her animals, dolls, etc water/food or her books. Sharing with them is fun, sharing with another child is not high on her list at the moment.

A funny story: After being stuck in the house sick for far too many days and being SO bored, I decided to show Tessa some Pop-Up books that I had taken from Nana's house. I know she is too young for them, and requires constant attention, but I was desperate. Well she LOVES them. One of them is a Muppets book. On one of the pages Miss Piggy is on a swing, and you can pull a tab and Kermit the Frog jumps up and pushes her. Tessa thought this was the greatest thing in the world. And then proceeded to try and climb into the book so she too could go on the swing. It was hilarious. She couldn't understand why she couldn't have a turn. And went back to that book, and that page repeatedly to try and swing... (Normally I would have taken her out back and put her on the swing there, but it was pouring rain.)

Although neither of us was feeling great today we went to the mall and used a coupon to get some pictures taken....here's one of them:

My New Camera

Tim gave me an early birthday present, a new camera! I love it! We got it today so that we can hopefully get some great pictures at Christmas. Well I think I took 300+ pictures today alone, clearly this is a problem. I will need to learn to delete or else things could get out of control.

Its too bad Tessa's face is covered in a rash from all the drool...
