Tim and I spent the morning shopping for perennials and bushes. A bit of money later and we were ready to fix the front yard. We also bought a non-motorized lawn mower, no we're not green, we just don't have much to mow and no where to store a big thing. Using the push mower today wasn't too bad, we both agreed not to let the grass get so long next time though...and to get a bag collector, both things would make the job a whole lot easier. In the front we planted the flowers and the new bush, hopefully both will like the clay-like soil that we've got here in MD.
On to the backyard...or the jungle...the grass grows in the back like crazy, needless to say it took a while to get mowed and raked, but its looking good now. Tomorrow we hope to tackle pulling up some plants back there, and restructuring the garden. It looks nice now, and I just wish Lou would stop using it for his toilet, because I might actually want to spend some time back there if I wasn't always on "poop patrol"...
I find it very interesting that we are some of the youngest owners in our neighborhood, and in terms of our yard work oftentimes the most responsible...
Oh yeah...and now we've got ants in the house, possibly they didn't like the yard work, and possibly its just that time of year. So Tim's back at HD getting some ant killer, we go through this every year for a few days and then they usually go away. Fingers crossed.
