A Big Day for Tessa

This morning Tessa had her first "gym class". She is in a class for 4-10 month olds. It is too cute! She loved every minute of it. Her instructor, Miss Kara, is very nice and Tessa couldn't get enough of her. Its amazing what babies can do, and its cool to see the difference a few months, even weeks makes. Even though Tessa was woken up from a nap in order to go to the class she was all smiles the whole time! With lots of squeals!

And when we got home, she took an hour and a half nap!

Today was also the first time Tessa held her own bottle for any period of time. As she doesn't really drink very many bottles she doesn't get a lot of opportunities. I've been trying to get her to do it with just water in the bottle, as that is messy enough.

Lou keeping an eye out for any sign of a spill...
(And no, her room is not normally this messy...I was trying many different outfits on her to see what she's outgrown, what she could wear in FL, etc)

And Tessa is loving her peaches and bananas. I'm pretty sure in the next few days I'll be able to get her to open her mouth, swallow, repeat for carrots and sweet potatos. She eats them, but with more effort on my part.

Mesmerized

Tessa spent a good 8-10 minutes trying to "pick up" the Tiny Love label...thats a long time in a baby's world!

Bath Pictures as Promised

I am REALLY Lucky!

I get to spend my days with Tessa (and Lou...sometimes that doesn't make me so lucky).

Tessa is obsessed with Lou's toys...someday she will figure out the whole crawling thing and be able to get it....until then she just stares at it and squeals!
Tessa's favorite toy (that is not Lou's) is this ball slide. It has a fan that propels the balls to the top, and then they go down the slide. She thinks it is the greatest thing around! And is getting very good at catching the balls as they come out the top. (Oh yeah, I got this for $7 at a consignment store...and the Pooh car in the background, her second favorite toy was $10 consignment as well.)

Tessa was relaxing watching Baby Einstein while I caught up with an old college friend...then Lou joined her...
And the laughter began! Yes Lou is trying to lick her, and yes Tessa is trying to grab Lou's tongue/mouth/who knows what.
Lou says, "Rub my belly."

I can't wait for Tim to get home so he can see this...he'll love it! Although I'm not so sure Lou will be mellow enough to be this close to Tessa if Tim is in the room.

Retiring the Bjorn and Some Other Developments

Tessa has gotten too heavy for me to continue to use the Bjorn, so today I went searching for a grocery cart cover. I found a cute one with some toys attached so hopefully she'll like it! It was nice to be able to always put her in the Bjorn, and I'm pretty sure that while she is in the grocery cart its going to be much more difficult to control her or keep her happy...

Tessa has been changing quite a bit lately, she is really growing up. She loves it when we hold her hands and let her walk around the house. She definitely has toys she prefers and heads towards them. Sometimes I try and distract her with another toy, but no, she knows what she wants and is going to keep looking at it and cooing til you let her walk over to it. Very cute!

The last few nights I have been letting Tessa sit in the bathtub right near the spout. I leave the water running and she just LOVES it. She tries to pick up the bubbles it creates and giggles so loudly when the water splashes in her face! I'm thinking that pretty soon when bathtime is over she's not going to be too happy to have to get out of the tub :( Needless to say I'm going to try and get her in a swim class at the Y near us that starts soon. That way when we go to FL in April she should really enjoy the pool at the house we rented.

I have also been taking Tessa to story hour at various places, a few libraries, Whole Foods, and some coffee shops. She could care less about the books being read but gets really excited to see the other babies! She coos and squeals the whole time! And of course wants me to let her walk to them, which I don't let her do...it should be very interesting when she can move on her own.

Tessa is still not a great sleeper/napper, although her naps are generally getting longer in length. And most nights she is only up once...which I guess I can deal with, as if I have another option.

Hopefully I'll remember to take some pictures or a video while she's in the bath tonight. Tim comes home tomorrow and we all can't wait!!

6 Month Birthday - First trip to the ER

Uncle Dan came to visit for the weekend. And played with Tessa...
This was a cute game of "Patty Cake" until the POP...
There are no pictures of what happened next but suffice it to say there was a lot of crying, hysterically, and a call to the pediatrician... Apparently it is very easy for children under 5 to have their elbows popped out of the socket. The condition is referred to as nursemaid elbow. We all took a quick trip down to the hospital where Tessa was born and within an hour or so her elbow was fixed. She still wasn't too happy, due to the injury and missing a nap but by the time we got home she was back to laughing at Lou. All in all it took about 2 hours and could have been a whole lot worse.

Post-hospital visit Dan feeds Tessa some bananas, while Lou watches on.

Happy Valentine's Day

Tessa received quite a few "edible" Valentines...or so she thought.

First Flight

Tessa and I flew home last week to see Jen and the rest of the family in MA. She was a great baby to fly with! I had packed my carry-on with numerous toys, books, etc and needed none of them on the way up. She slept most of the way and then was content to just sit in my lap. The way back she was good too, but awake most of the time and therefore we played and read books. I was happy that the flight was only an hour because it would have been difficult to entertain her for much longer...
Tessa is quite the cute baby now (not that she wasn't before...). She loves for us to hold her hands so she can walk all over the place! And she is very good at rolling, and practices often in her crib. Tessa loves to suck on her toes now, and pulls her socks off all the time! I think pretty soon she'll be able to go from laying down to sitting up. She isn't crawling yet, but can stay on all fours so I'm sure in the next few weeks she'll figure it out.
And here's some pictures from our trip:
