Croup

Sunday morning Tessa had a runny nose. By Sunday evening we were taking her to Patient First (basically a clinic). By Sunday night she was being admitted to the hospital. Usually after a treatment or two of a nebulizer (with some sort of epinephrine) and some steroids symptoms lessen. Well not for Tessa, so we had to stay over night. She ended up getting 8 treatments with the nebulizer...poor thing. It did help her with her breathing, and she would stop making horrific sounds, but it has some sort of adrenaline in it which would cause her heart rate to spike and she couldn't sleep. Needless to say it was a really long night. And by the end of it she could barely pick her head up because she was so tired.

Her last treatment was at 8AM yesterday, and thankfully I was able to get them to put off the subsequent ones because she was sleeping so soundly. (During the night she would be sleeping and they'd do the treatment anyway, and then she would be AWAKE for a long time.) So we spent the day just trying to get her to rest and not get worked up.

Last night we were able to bring her home, with orders to come back if she started up again (croup is worst at night). Luckily she slept almost through the whole night and we didn't have to go back.
